When I walked into the Ferraro home, I had two immediate thoughts. 1. “Oh my goodness, why can’t my home look this clean?” and 2. “This is the coziest environment I’ve photographed in.” The light was gorgeous and it smelled like there was a delicious candle burning.
A lot of times when I photograph a family with children, it’s chaos. Organized, loud, fun chaos. And to be honest, I love it. I laugh the whole time and have to rise to the challenge of wrangling little kids and convincing them to smile at my camera. These sessions give me a unique energy that I don’t get anywhere else. I’m so immensely grateful for my families with littles for this reason.
But that day, walking into that house, I was really, really tired. I had booked this sweet family pretty last minute and during my busiest month of the year. But the second I got there, I was so grateful that I squeezed them in. It felt like a session that was supposed to happen. I was instantly at peace and I knew that this hour was more for me than it was for them. It was a reminder that I love to capture people in their most familiar environment, doing the everyday things they do.
Both Shane and Kristin emanate this incredible warmth. When they ask you a question about yourself or smile at you, they mean it. I’m usually the person putting people at ease during a session, but I felt welcomed in a way that was precious to me.
And their precious little Avery. She did SO well during the whole session, barely making a peep and just being one of the cutest little things I ever saw. And it was so obvious how much love surrounds her on a daily basis. Her parents couldn’t get enough of her.
Oh, Avery, to be adored like that! You are such a lucky little girl. I can’t even imagine the calming presence you’ll bring to those around you with parents like these two!
Shane and Kristin, I can’t thank you enough for that hour in your home. I know you were just being your natural, wonderful selves, but it was very life-giving to me during an otherwise overwhelming season. I feel very honored that you chose me to document this season of your lives. I hope that years from now, these images will remind you of how over the moon you were during Avery’s first weeks.
Thank you, thank you. And I hope to see you guys again very soon!
(This shoot was my Best Morning Ever option, which means I photographed this sweet family for several hours. I offer these sessions to clients who live anywhere, even outside of Colorado. I would LOVE to chat with you about your family’s Best Day Ever.)
She is so incredibly precious! And I just love it when working with a client ends up being the best part of my day. I have been so blessed to have several of those clients with my web design business who end up ministering to me even though they hired me to do work for them.
These are beautiful photos! I love how you captured the sweet, warm environment of the Ferraro family’s home. Such a wonderful experience, I’m sure. Thanks for sharing!
Ah! I love newborn photoshoots!! You can just see the love radiating between them. This is beautiful
