You guys! This is one of my favorite projects I’ve ever done and I CANNOT WAIT to share it with you! If you follow me on Facebook, you likely saw some of these images back in February, but here are many, many more!
Emily reached out to me at the end of 2016, asking me if I would be willing to do a Best Month Ever with her and her family. I immediately responded with a YES! I have been anxiously waiting for a family to take that leap of faith and be willing to let me document their lives for a month. And the Albrights were absolutely perfect.
I took literally thousands of photos of the Albright family in our month together. I went to school with them, to swim class, to ballet class, to multiple parks, to tutoring, to violin lessons, to the car wash, the the grocery store, to Target … you name it, I went.
I also got to see the tender moments at home: bed time, bath time, dinnertime, the twins baking cookies, Curtis working on a dinosaur project, all of the making Valentine’s. By the end of the first week, I felt like I was part of the family. The kids would greet me with hugs and grab my hand to show me what they were doing.
I knew that these kinds of projects would be intimate. But I had no idea how comfortable we would all become. Kurtis already invited me to his birthday party in November, the twins cried a few times when I had to leave, and I even got a hug from Damon on my last day with them.
My job is certainly about documenting memories for families. And providing a realistic snapshot of a season of their lives. But it’s also about connection and relationships and encouraging families. I always say that it’s my goal in life to be everybody’s best hype girl. And I can’t think of a better way to do that than give families tangible proof of their love for one another.
John, Emily, Vincent, Damon, Kurtis, Dom, and Annika … I feel so blessed to have met you and spent so much time with you. Your friendship and support of what I do means the absolute world to me. You kiddos are so lucky to have parents who are so invested in your childhood. Love you all and can’t wait to see you again soon!
