I get a lot of different reactions when I tell people that births are one of my very favorite things to photograph. Maybe some puzzled questions, polite nodding, even horrified expressions—they really run the gamut. And I love seeing it every single time.

There are a few things that have definitively changed my life:

1. Dry shampoo …  Any woman should know about this and use it. Less showering, more living.
2. Netflix and Hulu … Do I even need to explain this one?
3. Emily Schromm’s 21-day Superhero Challenge … Talk about a game-changer.

late, warm summer nights
sand boxes and jungle gyms,
a backyard haven.

so many helpers
surrounding little LuBird
all with gleeful hearts

because Lu is joy.
she is happiness, love, bliss,
a beacon of light.

action-packed mornings
sleepy afternoons that lead
into settled nights

life with a toddler,
not for the faint of heart or
the tired of mind.

gorgeous baby blues
worn by the happiest girl,
but no shirt or shoes.
