The P. Family's Best Day Ever

featured

Anyone who knows The Dokes family knows that much of their spring and summer revolve around baseball. They have immensely talented sons and their oldest even went to the World Series in Maryland this year! So of course, we had to get some shots at the baseball diamond across the street from their home.

Everyone also knows that their faith is paramount in their lives and that is as obvious as their passion for baseball.

Dwayne and Aimee are raising some sweet blessings (that’s what Aimee calls their kids). From the bottom to the top: Adorable little Titus to feisty Trinity to “Romeo” Ezekiel to sweet Moses.

I had the privilege of meeting the Manns through my friends Henry and Mary. I use the word “meeting” loosely because I didn’t actually meet them until our photo shoot! They were so brave to trust me with their family photos and I’m so incredibly happy they did.

I feel pretty uncomfortable when people talk about marriage being difficult, especially when they go on and on about how the first few years are so hard. See, I’ve had a pretty easy go of it. I don’t know that my husband would say the same thing, because before me his life was pretty drama-free. But for me? He just mellows me out. He has brought out the best in me from the moment I met him. I feel calmer, more peaceful, more at ease.

You always see Realtor’s faces on everything they print. It’s not their fault – it’s the industry’s fault. Market saturation or something like that.

This becomes problematic for Realtors that don’t love getting their photo taken. And my friend/Realtor Josh from Northeast Denver Homes absolutely falls into that category. Don’t get me wrong, he is waaaay confident in his looks, he just gets awkward in front of cameras.

Emily was a brave soul and trusted me to do her senior portraits a couple weeks ago. Though I’ve never done a senior shoot before, as soon as I started snapping, I knew she would make my job easy.

We walked around downtown Denver, looking for fun spots that reflected her personality. She is fun, bright and entertaining. She made laugh out loud with the comment, “Punk rock isn’t a look. It’s a lifestyle.” If you scroll down to the bottom, I think you’ll understand what she means.

The first night they met, Charley lit Lynn’s shirt on fire after dancing. On one of their first real dates, Lynn was craving a pastrami sandwich, so they drove from Ithaca, NY to New York City and didn’t sleep a wink. After a couple months of long-distance dating, her in Ithaca, him in Syracuse, they both spent semesters abroad. Lynn went to France, Charley went to South America. They met up in Europe and traveled for three weeks over Christmas break.

MY FAVORITE KID-FRIENDLY RESTAURANTS IN DENVER

These are my favorite kid-friendly restaurants in Denver. They have perfect menus and accommodations for your hellions and good-enough-to-be-worth-it food for you.
